My favorite new band, Slicing Grandpa played at the Josephine tonight and I was in heaven.

Dub Lab sent out a request for “home recordings” for a field recording festival in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 14th 2009.
I sent in a recording of a hail storm we had in Seattle just days before. The video is not much of a video but identifies the pieces and it is a really cool collage of interesting field recordings.
Just started a recording by Flowmotion. Sometimes it reminds me of Zappa, Sometimes it reminds me of the Neil Young. Sometimes it reminds me of Todd Rundgren. Sometimes it reminds of Steely Dan if it were recorded properly and the members weren’t arrogant pricks. Sometimes I can’t believe how great this band is.
This page reprints an interview I did with Husker Du a long time ago. I’m glad someone finally appreciates it.
I just played Rockband for the first time tonight and I was horrified. I thought I could just play along with the music and I could play the guitar like I would normally. NO…it’s actually a game and you have to follow the rules. This isn’t working for me. My band mates were upset cos I kept getting us booed off the stage (sounds oddly familiar…can anyone say ODIR?). I finally got the hang of it towards the end of the night and about 6 beers later, but the real problem was that I just didn’t know the songs. These songs are too popular. What I want to see is Rockband versions of Chrome or Black Flag or Caroliner. Then we really will be cooking. It would also be nice if you could just wail on the instrument and jam rather than having to play the song correctly. Where’s the innovation in this. Maybe you could actually make a Smashing Pumpkins songs sound good if you could change the parts. But I digress.
Just finished tracking the second half of the new Staxx Brothers record. I guess this is crunk, but it reminds me more of Funkadellic, Motown, Stones and Reggae with 2 MC’s and a brilliant background girl group vocal section.
Do you know the difference between wah wah guitar and wah wah guitar played by people that can actually control the pedal? This is the shit!!!
My new producer name is Crunky C.
