Greetings Friends and Neighbors! As always, many things have
happened. Let's look at the newest of releases first:
In the mailorder department we have stock of -
Pale Nudes - Wise to the Heat CD $12ppd
Cecil Taylor - Nefertiti Double CD $20 ppd
Derek Bailey - Music and Dance CD $15 ppd
John Fahey - City of Refuge CD $10 ppd
Speaking of Fahey, this CD is a Promo copy, meaning that it has
that pesky "For Promo Only" print on it. I didn't ask for this,
this is just the way they are. Very few copies - that's why they
are cheaper. Sorry. The good news is that this release has sold
out the first pressing of 10,000 copies already, which is a great
accomplishment. Another new development is that you may see yours
truly in print in MIX magazine for I have been inducted into MIX
World as a new product reviewer. Ta-da! I will keep you abreast of
when the fiirst review will be published.
Marc Olsen's solo CD is scheduled for release in May. Copies will
be available at that time. If you remember, Marc was a member of
Sky Cries Mary and Sage, so you can imagine that his solo CD
contains catchy, somber, bare boned songs that will take you
through a mellow Seattle rain storm, complete with distant thunder.
This CD features classic guitar, bass and vocal arrangements that
will dull the senses and draw you in like a serious pain killer!
The after-effect is that you'll be humming these pop songs for days
after the CD tray goes into park...
The next Sun City Girls release, titled "Box of Chameleons", is
just about finshed and features 95 cuts of 2 minutes or less. The
songs run the gamut from 1979 to present and, believe it or not,
went through heavy editing (there were nearly 300 cuts to start
with)!
Amy Denio continued to work on her soundtrack for a NY dance
company's performance called "Sky Down". She has also released
domestically the Pale Nudes CD "Wise to the Heat", which is being
promoted through a West Coast tour starting this weekend!! This CD
is being administered through me, which marks
my re-entry into the labeldom.
The first release on the new and improved Gravelvoice label will be
Charlie Gocher's solo project "Pint Sized Spartacus", which is now
completed and will see the light of day come June. Charlie has
already begun writing the follow-up, which will also come out on
Gravelvoice.
Other releases planned for the future will be a Drupod Trio
recording with Ed "fingers" Pias on Pakhawaj. Ed also just
received word that his first solo CD, "Ancestors Halo", will be
released on Extreme after the summer. Excitement abounds!
Those of you wondering about the Dying Ground CD with Eyvind Kang,
Kato Hideki and Calvin Weston should know that it needs to be
remixed again - and I promise will be great once it sees the light.
Difficult music makes for difficult mixing, but then face peeling
is a science - not an art - so go figure.
Climax Golden Twins are working feverishly on their soundtrack for
Don Fels' art instalation about Plywood. This instalation will
open April 25th at the Bellevue Art Museum and will feature Climax
manipulated CD loops in five different rooms. All Plywood All Day.
Woohoo!
Good Night
